Description of the Slot
Very few can match the skills of Hacksaw Gaming when it comes to designing innovative game features. The game provider has been delivering excellent titles over the years and continues to add new ones to its portfolio. The company’s recent release, Warrior Ways, takes us to a futuristic Japanese city, where different clans have raised their banners and are competing against one another for supremacy.
Warrior Ways has a 5×4 grid layout and is played across 1024 ways to win. The game’s unique gameplay emerges in its features section, where we see interesting features like Duels, Clash, and Conquest. So, let’s make our way into this Japanese city to learn more about the Warrior Ways.
Design and Audio
It’s typical of Hacksaw Gaming to create a design where the grid occupies a much smaller space than its background. In Warrior Ways, we encounter a similar scenario with the reels sitting in the middle of a Japanese locality. The visuals of the game are dabbed in pink and purple to give it a futuristic look.
Warrior Ways is clearly a mix of future and past, where traditional clans and ninja warriors have resurfaced in a futuristic Japanese city. Everything in the game pertains to these warriors and their clans. The background score sounds equally thematic with a blend of techno and oriental music.
Hacksaw Gaming is renowned for creating unique features that transform their game into more than just a slot.
Whenever a Vs symbol lands between warriors from two clans, it triggers the Duel feature. Vs symbols land only on reels 2, 3, and 4. In this feature, the warrior clans get random multipliers ranging from 1x to 100x. After the Duel, the winning clan symbol replaces all the defeated clan’s symbol instances, whether high or low. Even the Vs symbol also transforms into the winning clan’s symbol. Moreover, the multiplier allotted to the victorious clan becomes applicable in the win.
Landing 3 Clash symbols during the base game trigger the Clash feature. The feature is divided into two phases, starting with the Collect phase. Three spins are awarded in the Collect phase, and each time you land a Vs or a Clan multiplier symbol, the spins count resets to 3. Vs symbol lands only on reel 3, whereas the remaining reels are reserved for each Clan, and their respective multiplier symbols occur in them.
Each time a Clan multiplier symbol occurs on a reel, its value gets displayed right above that reel. The game also has an Epic Clan Multiplier, which occurs only on reel 3. When the Epic Clan Multiplier lands, it multiplies the collected multiplier values of all other reels by 2x. Once all the spins are exhausted, the Collect phase transitions to the Clash phase.
Each spin in the Clash phase is guaranteed to trigger a duel. The number of spins awarded during the Clash phase depends on the number of Vs symbols you accumulated in the Collect phase. Also, each clan during this phase acquires the Clash multipliers you won for them in the Collect phase.
Getting 3 Conquest symbols in a spin triggers the Conquest feature with 10 free spins. An additional free spin is awarded for each Conquest symbol appearing during the feature. If a clan warrior loses a Duel in this feature, its clan banner gets damaged. When a clan banner gets damaged twice, it is eliminated from the feature along with all its high and low-paying symbols.
Eliminating more clans during the Conquest feature will increase your chances of bagging big wins. With each clan elimination, you win an additional free spin.
The Bonus Buy option allows you to purchase both bonus features. For activating the Clash feature, you have to pay 100x the stake. On the other hand, you have to pay 400x the stake to trigger the Conquest feature. Note that the volatility levels of the Clash and Conquest features will be high and medium, respectively.
Symbols in Warrior Ways do not offer any profit on their own. They need to interact with one another through one of the features to generate big wins. But they do provide something when appearing in a winning combination. Among the low-paying ones are clan symbols depicted in red, blue, green, and orange colors, providing not more than half the bet amount.
As for the higher-paying symbols (also differentiated with the same colors), you’ll get four clan warriors offering 1x the bet at best. There is also a special wild symbol in the slot equipped with the power to substitute all symbols. However, wilds do not transform into High paying symbols to determine a duel. Also, Warrior Ways comes with a max win potential of 10,000x the stake, which is pretty impressive.
The game throws a glance into a fictional and futuristic Japanese city besieged by four clans. The clans are at each other’s throats and wouldn’t rest till only one of them survives. In short, the driving force of the slot is pretty straightforward: duels, clashes, and conquests!
Hacksaw Gaming has rated Warrior Ways 4 out of 5 in volatility, implying high variance. So, do not expect frequent winnings in the game, as you might have to face a streak of winless runs before hitting on something big.
About the Game Provider
Hacksaw Gaming was founded in 2017 and has released over 80 casino games since then. The company operates in more than eighteen regulated markets and has joined hands with numerous partners from all across the globe. These numbers highlight the long strides the game provider has made in such a short business run.
Apart from slots, Hacksaw Gaming has an excellent collection of Scratchcards in its portfolio. To keep pace with the rapidly evolving igaming industry, the game provider has already listed many of its titles in reputed crypto and hybrid casinos.
With Warrior Ways, Hacksaw Gaming has yet again proved that it has not run out of tricks. A unique game engine makes the slot highly engaging, although new players might require multiple readings of the rule book to familiarize themselves with the game. But what’s most impressive about the slot is its math model. Whether it is the max win, volatility levels, or even the standard RTP of 96.33%, Warrior Ways boasts excellent numbers.
A downside we found in the slot is its paytable. Next to gripping features, the paying symbols have no return value and offer nothing special on their own. Therefore, any major win in the game is only possible via Duels, Clash, and Conquest features.
